Rafael ''Raful'' Eitan Figurine
Rafael Eitan (1929–2004) Farmer, warrior, Member of Knesset, Minister in the Israeli government, and the 11th Chief of Staff of the IDF. Born in Moshav Tel Adashim to an agricultural family, he joined the Palmach at the age of 16. During the War of Independence, he fought with the Harel Brigade in battles to liberate Jerusalem. After the war, he served as a senior commander in the Paratroopers Brigade, led complex operations, and was awarded the Medal of Valor. In the Six-Day War, he commanded the Paratroopers Brigade, leading the battles in Rafah and the capture of the Gaza Strip from the Egyptians, during which he was seriously wounded by a gunshot to the head. During the Yom Kippur War, he served as a division commander, leading the efforts to halt the Syrian army and achieve victory in the north sector. In 1978, he was appointed Chief of Staff. During his tenure, he oversaw the implementation of the peace agreement with Egypt, carried out the attack on the Iraqi nuclear reactor, and led Operation "Peace for Galilee." After his release from the military, he founded the Tzomet Party, which promoted settlement, security, and agriculture. Raphael "Raful" Eitan's life story is a model of a warrior and a man of the land who dedicated his life to Israel’s security, strengthening settlement, and advancing agriculture as part of his Zionist vision.
